Bill Cunningham is known as much for his facility in documenting fashion as he is for this own iconic image. Fashion’s friendliest photographer has been chronicling New York fashion for more than 5 decades of trends and style evolution, but one thing that has remained unchanged is Bill’s modest style. Whether on the streets of Manhattan, at an industry event, or at a runway show, Bill’s attire is always the same: basic black loafers, khakis, white button-down or sweater, a red tie, and the most notable element-his cobalt blue jacket.
This year at #NYFW, menswear designer Michael Bastian paid humble homage to the legendary New York Times fashion photographer. If the Cobalt Blue french coat and basic khakis didn’t give it away, then certainly the camera strapped around the model’s neck was a dead ringer, as Cunningham is almost never seen without his Canon.
